The pending election results and potential new President and Vice President have caused legitimate concerns for Christians. Joe Biden and Kamela Harris are both very vocal in their support of abortion and their views on economics favor more socialistic policies rather than free-market capitalism.

The overreach of governments has already been displayed in their ability to quickly shut down cities, counties, and states from conducting business.

Prayer is our most powerful tool. God is sovereign and He is at work.

From a financial standpoint, there are many biblical moves we should make in the face of a potentially oppressive government.

Below is the first in a series I will be sharing with you in the coming weeks; feel free to share these with friends and family:

First Move

Trust God alone
This is not a platitude simply used to start a list; this is a real-life must.
Thus saith the Lord; cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:5

We are easily drawn to trusting a person whom we can see and hear, one who has been chosen to lead a nation. Attempts to find security and peace of mind in an elected official will only disappoint and frustrate us.

We are equally apt to trust in financial accounts that we can visually see and manage.

Trusting God rather than a president and trusting His promises and principles over trusting in money are not acts that come naturally to us.

Thankfully we have His Spirit and His power in us to help us live by faith  – we cannot do it on our own.

It is God who gives us the ability to work and earn an income.
A new job, a promotion, or the privilege of running a business are gifts from God. Praise Him for them.
A setback, a health crisis, or a disability are all father-filtered trials of which God is fully aware. He is working through those trials to His glory (1 Pet. 5:7). Trust Him through them.

God is not afraid of the future of this country – He holds the future and knows every day before it begins.

He alone is our Provider and Protector
Every good thing we have comes from the Lord. Keep in mind that God is limited neither by an elected political party, oppressive laws, nor by an economic recession or depression. The only thing holding Him back from providing for us and blessing us is our own unbelief.

If money is our source of security, we have locked ourselves inside a prison of our own making. We willingly remain in captivity unless we find security and protection somewhere else.  Chuck Bentley, The Root of Riches

Scripture to meditate on: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
