Do you feel like no matter how hard you try, no matter how many hours you work, you just can seem to get on top of your finances?
You are not alone. But I am here to give you good news, but you have to be open to receive it, because it is not conventional nor popular. Ready?
We are going about it all wrong! And God knew we would. Listen to what He tells His children in Haggai 1:6, “You have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.” Man, does that hit home! We work, we eat, we pay bills but it never seems to be enough.
That is because we try to do it our way. We make too great a deal with money than we ought to. The children of Israel were tired of doing things God’s way and instead did things their way, which included not honoring the Lord with their tithes—they felt they needed to keep that for themselves and Scripture teaches us that they were not succeeding.
One of the most overlooked financial truths, is that money is a spiritual matter. If it were merely a mathematical issue, then most of would be doing phenomenally well! But it’s not, and we aren’t.
When we have the faith to acknowledge, and live by, the truth that money is a spiritual matter, and choose to seek and obey the Lord in this mater, then we will receive the blessings and promises God’s Word provides— and the Word never changes.
Notice in Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Ok class, who knows more, God, or us? Who is more capable of providing for us, God, or us? Whose ways are better, God’s or ours? We know the answers, so why not let go of our ways (which cannot satisfy) and embrace God’s ways.
Don’t listen to the lies of the Enemy. God’s ways are peaceable, precious, and indescribable!
“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the ends thereof are the ways of death” Proverbs 16:25
Why not start here: “Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10
It could not be any clearer, honor the Lord with the tithe (which belongs to him) then He promises to more than provide! This brings us to a place of complete dependence upon Him— which has always been His design!
